Handmade Monday #109

Handmade Monday craft link up

Hi everyone and welcome to Handmade Monday #109, this is our weekly craft link up where you can share your craft project and ideas or imply browse for a little inspiration.

I’ve spent most of the week stamping romantic quotes on the pages of old, damaged books. I turn then into cards for sale in my Etsy shop and they are especially popular for Valentine’s cards. I can find it difficult to get the books I want sometimes, one quote I especially love from Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing is particularly popular and I don’t find battered copies of the play that often. I only like to rip up books that are too far gone to be read, it seams such a waste to chop up books that could fulfil their original purpose. However a friend told me the other day that charity shops sometimes throw away books that don’t sell after a certain length of time so now I’m thinking that if a book is saved from the bin and made into something lovely then isn’t that better? - I might rethink my ‘only battered books’ policy. What do you think about crafting with books - a good way to use them or close to sacrilege?

Now it’s time to see the features from last week’s Handmade Monday. Please click on the photos to go through to the original posts if you want to pin any of these ideas.

Licia from Hobby e Creativita took a Christmas gift basket and turned it into a lovely covered bread basket. We always get a few tins, boxes and baskets at Christmas which are too good to throw away so it’s always nice to find an idea to use them.

Mel from Decor Craft Design shared how she made a calendar that can be used over and over, month after month, year after year. It has a great rustic look to it too.

Congratulations to you both. there is a "YAY I was featured" button over here if you want to add one to your blog :-)

Handmade Monday has a group Pinterest board. I pin as many of the projects shared here as I can each week, but I don’t always get to you all. If you’d like to join the board and pin your own projects there you are very welcome. Just follow all my boards on Pinterest then email or Pinterest message me, letting me know the email address you use for Pinterest and I’ll send you an invite.

Handmade Monday is all about building a crafting community,  we most definitely are better together, so please do take a moment to visit some of the other projects linked up this week. Share some of your favourites on your social media maybe and leave a nice comment or two.

 Let's support one another  ^_^

The rules for Handmade Monday are very simple:

  • Did you make it? Yes - then hooray, we'd love to see it

  • Add the link to a specific post, not your main blog url

  • You can link up to 3 posts each week but try to make sure it's not stuff you've shared here before

  • Mingle - visit some other links - comment - share

If you are not sure of anything more details can be found here
