Handmade Monday #489

A very warm welcome to Handmade Monday, our creative link up.
I’m making a change to Handmade Monday - we’re going monthly instead of weekly. That means that they’ll be a new Handmade Monday on the last Sunday of each month and the link up will stay open for the whole month.
There are 3 main reasons that I think maybe it’s time for a change. I’ve read a lot telling me that link ups are a thing of the past and “over” but I don’t want to close down Handmade Monday altogether. I like it! I enjoy seeing other bloggers craft ideas and getting inspired by them. I’ve found lots of new recipes over the years that I’ve tried out and really enjoyed.
The next is that InLinkz, the company that provides the actually link up has changed their subscription model. I have been on a legacy subscription with them for years and they’ve withdrawn that option now. To get some of the features that I used to have included, like a listing in their directory, I’d now have to pay quite a bit more for each month.
The 3rd is that it does take quite a bit of my time each week to go through all the links, visit and comment, pick the features etc.
I’m hoping that a monthly link up will be a good compromise. Less pressure for me to go through and visit the links and ideas shared, but without abandoning the link up idea altogether. I’m a big fan of anything that brings people together. By having a little longer hopefully people will still find us and the link up and you are welcome to pop back several times in the month and share new ideas.
I’m thinking we can see how it goes and maybe in the New Year I’ll reassess and check a monthly link up is working for everyone.
UPDATE: I messed something up (so sorry) when I set up the latest linky so it closed on the 4th October. So much for my new month long link up idea! Never mind, I’ve added another open link up which is below the first and I’ll keep an eye on it. Hopefully I’ve not made a mistake on that somewhere too. Fingers crossed that next month will run more smoothly.

Gail from Purple Hues and Me has made this stunning autumnal decoration for empty soda cans (or fizzy pop cans as I would normally call them!)
Katja from Wusel Gewusel has screen printed onto a summer dress and the results are just beautiful. Katja writes in German but google translate does a good enough job if, like me, you don’t speak German. She goes through the process in some detail too, I might have to add screen printing onto my wish list!
Christine’s Crafts has a really simple beginner friendly tutorial to make an unlined bucket bag.
