10 ideas to make cheap plastic pumpkins look classy and expensive

It’s that time of year (in the northern hemisphere at least) when thoughts turn to autumn and the pumpkins come out!

Decorating with pumpkins has got increasingly popular over the years and it’s not just about jack-o’-lanterns for halloween now. Decorative pumpkins are no longer all bright orange one with carved faces that appear for a few days each year at the end of October.

You can buy real pumpkins and gourds in all sorts of shapes and colours these days but if you like long lasting decorative items that you can bring out year after year then faux pumpkins can be a good alternative. There are beautiful decorative pumpkins in the shops but they can be very expensive, especially the larger sizes. I saw a lovely, but rather small, verdigris copper effect pumpkin in the local garden centre the other day for nearly £50!

With a few craft materials and a little time it is possible to transform an old cheap plastic or styrofoam (polystyrene) pumpkin from your basement, shed or attic and give it a whole new look.

I’ve scoured the internet and found some creative ideas to transform an old cheap plastic and foam pumpkin into something that looks much more classy and expensive.
