A little tribute to Jenny 2026

7th February was my Mum, Jenny's birthday, so as always I'm sharing something today that she made.

A few years ago I mentioned that my brother had had a clear out and had brought round a bag with some of my old dolls clothes. His girls had all grown up and had no need for dolls clothes any more so he pulled out the ones he thought had been mine WAY back in the day to see if I wanted to keep any.

This turned out to be a goldmine for my little birthday tributes here on the blog and has given me things to share with you all for quite a few years now.

One of the items in the bag of dolls clothes was this little cardigan that my mum made, it’s another from the pattern book that she used to make the cape and leggings that I shared back in 2023. (Question for older UK folks - Does anyone think this doll in the pattern book looks a bit like like Hamble from Playschool back in the 1970s? Am I showing my age?)

My mum, Jenny, was endlessly encouraging when it came to crafts, especially knitting and sewing which were her favourties.

Each 7th February I share something my Mum made, you can see the previous ones here along with the explanation for the blog name, Sum of their Stories.

So today I’m remembering my mum and the lovely things she knitted for us all over the years and the way she encouraged me to enjoy all sorts of crafts and ccreativity.
