A Little Tribute to Pearl 2025

patons third bazaar book

My nan, Pearl was born on 30th November 1906 and every year I share something she made that I still have or something she taught me to do. My nan was very influential in my life as I was growing up as we shared a love of all the crafty things.

She loved to show me how to make all sorts of things was always so encouraging.

I mentioned last year that am getting a bit low on physical items that my nan made to share with you now because Sum of their Stories has been around for 13 years. For this year I looked out an old knitting and crochet pattern book I have that was my nan’s.

This Patons Third Bazaar Book was published in 1968 according to a quick internet check (it doesn’t have a date in the booklet).

My nan must have lent it to someone at some point because she’s written her name and address on the cover. It’s strangely lovely to see her handwriting again.

The projects in the booklet and a little …. dated!

The only thing I’m sure my nan made was the doll tea cosy.

So today I’m remembering Pearl, my grandma who always had a craft project (or 3) on the go.
