Modern Craft Kits, a Gift Guide

Christmas is a great time of year to give a craft kit. Kits are perfect for introducing a new craft without having to spend a fortune on lots of equipment and supplies. Craft kits are the perfect way to allow a loved one to have a go at any crafts that they’ve never tried but always wanted to. They are lovely for any age as well, you are definitely never too old to try a new craft. Obviously when giving a craft kit to a child you need to check the guidance to see if it’s age appropriate but I’m sure that it’s because I was lucky enough to be given lots of craft kits as a child that I like so many different creative pastimes now.

I’ve put together some collections of kits, mostly from from Etsy that are suitable for crafters or wannabe crafters of all ages with an assortment of crafts so there is something for everyone. They are from Etsy shops in a variety of places in the world, I’ve tried to pick shops that offer shipping to most parts of the world as much as possible - do just be sure you check dispatch countries and the estimated delivery times to wherever you are in the world.

Leather Bag Kits

A kit to sew your own quality leather handbag would be a lovely gift for almost anyone.

Spoiler alert - making your own gorgeous leather bag is A LOT of fun and not as difficult as you might think, these kits make it easy.

Wooden Puzzle and Book Nook Kits

Over the last year I’ve also tested and reviewed a couple of wooden puzzle and book nook kits. These are A LOT of fun to put together, complex but a lot of fun. You do need to concentrate to construct these kits and they don’t go together in 5 minutes, however if you know anyone who enjoys crafts that take a little time and that you can really lose yourself in then these might be just the thing. Subscription Craft Kits

There are a few companies that offer subscription craft kits where you can gift just one box or give a larger, year long gift of a monthly craft kit. As a craft lover I can’t imagine anything better than a gift that keeps giving all year! Some companies have 3 and 6 month options too. Check out Cozy Craft Club , Craftiosity and Makebox in the UK, Crafter, Cora Crea Crafts and Cratejoy in the US, Soulcraft in Canada, Little Creations and Hello Kit in the EU.

Of all these listed, Cozy Craft Club and Craftiosity are the only ones I’ve actually tested out myself and they were both excellent.
